Strange black box

I bought my 172 2 weeks ago, just pulled the passenger visor down an found a small Black Box with numbers on it with a wire going from it to under the interior light? Any clue what this might be??

Just got numbers 1to 10, then a little red light flashes as you press the but nothing happens

It sounds like a gps tracker placed by spies. Ditch the car in a river and look into leaving the country.

alarm box? I had one on my 172, but it was an import so didn't come with the alarm as stadard
