strange feeling help!!!

hi guys just wondered what this could be when i am gunning at over 100 the steering wheel response seems to go very very light almost like the tyres are not touching the ground but its only at these speeds what could it be anything wrong? my tyres etc etc as i have 205 45 16 tyres cheers to anyone who could help many thanks.

You'll get that in most cars at that speed. The clio's not really built aerodynamicaly for that speed, it will do it but thats mainly due to the brute power of the engine. I wouldn't worry about it.

is it a smaller wheel than standard? thats probably why, the steering gets light with the standard bus wheel!

what engine is it? 2.0 16v?

yes mate 172 but its standard 16inch wheels just got 205 rather than 195 for extra grip!! could it be them?

my stering got lighter when i went from 195/50/15 to 205/45/16 so possibly

anyone...also could my front shocks be buggered got standard ones with apex springs but they seem firm on the bounce test

Get the tracking checked I'd bet its out.

cheers mate would that affect high speed acceleration???? it did it tonight at around 80 quite scarey actually its like all over the road and no grip

check tyre pressures. really though its a light car and the roads at the minute are greasy so there probably isnt a problem.

Just a quick question, i know its off topic i changed my tyres to 205/45/16 and i think its awful on some roads as it tram lines alot especially when you put your foot down . Anyone else think the same thing?

thats what mine does mate i will check pressures and tracking but it could be just the tyres mine are federal tyres so maybe not a good make i dont know but the tread pattern is awesome like the f1 goodyear

possibly the tyres then, i had the 195's on first and i noticed the change when i swapped them to wider ones

thing is though with wider tyres surely the grip would be better???
