Strange idle

Ph1 172, when I come to a stop, the idle (sometimes) goes to 2000 revs. If I lift the throttle with my foot and then let it go, it idles normally, any ideas? I was thinking that maybe the throttle cable needs replacing.

most probably by the sounds of it chap, ph1s are common for a stickingthrottle, mine used to do it, new cable fixed it :)

Sticking cable or ICV.

Both can be cleaned without need for replacement though, i'd give that a go first.

ICV is on the front of your TB, with two small bolts fixing it in place. Take those off to get to the ICV.

With the cable, just disconnect it from your pedal and pull it through the bulkhead, back the the TB. Buy a new casing from Renault for about £5... spray grease down the casing, copper slip on either end. Then feed it back through the bulkhead along the original route.

It's often the casing that wears/drys out... not the actual cable that's damaged.
