strange issue 182 warming up quick and fan kicks in

Hi there, car has developed a fault, I made a short trip tonight & noticed the gauge was climbing quicker than it would usually the guage got to half way as it would usually but when i switched the car off i heard the fan had been on & was powering down. Waited 3 hours before driving back & did the same again. The gauge didn't go higher than half way.

That sounds normal to me... I mean I could be wrong, but if the guage never went above halfway, then I wouldn't be worried at all... if it had gone over halfway fair enough, I could understand...

Now im not an expert, but going from experience, if I leave my car over night, lets say I dont drive it for 16 hours, when I start to drive it, it takes while to warm up, but then if I leave it for say 2-3 hours, the car doesnt fully cool down so it will be much quicker getting back up to normal operating temperatures

Thanks for the reply, it's the fan that is causing me concern. It was like 2 degrees and it came on from normal driving

Sounds like a potential coolant sensor issue.

Hopefully something like that rather than the head gasket. Thanks

Won't be the headgasket.
