Strange Starting Problem

Hi All

A few times over the last couple of weeks my car has refused to start in the morning. The rest of the stay it seems to start fine, but the first start it doesnt seem to want to go.

What happens is the engine turns over fine yet it wont fire. It normally takes at least 2 or 3 attempts and it finally starts. Once started it idles very rough for a little bit and then settles down.

Im pretty sure its not a coil pack as once its running it runs sweet as a nut. The immobilser light doesnt flash so im fairly sure its not that either. The only thing i think it could be is the Coolant Temparture Sensor.

Does anyone else have any other ideas what it could be?

what car is it? could be belts or sparks mate

Its a 99 Clio 1.6 16v.

Ive just been out and cleaned up the TDC sensor which seemed pretty dirty and it started ok after that. Will have to wait til the morning to see if it makes a difference.

Fingers crossed, its been starting well all day. Will have to see how it does in the morning.
