Stripping Clio 182 left over wires

Bit of an update, I’ve started stripping the front carpets and sound deadening out and I’m now left with quite a bit of wiring.


I’ve removed a load of old stereo wiring that wasn’t connected to anything, but I’m not sure what I can safely remove from the standard loom. I’ve attached a few photos of the plugs/modules I’m unsure about.


Has anyone stripped the wiring back on a 182 before? What can I get rid of and what’s best left alone? Also interested to see how people have tidied/rerouted the loom with no carpets.


Don’t want to start cutting wires and end up creating problems

I stripped back my ph1 172 wiring quite aggressively but I did it last, once I had everything back in and how I liked it. I just traced wires back to their nearest plug and cut the wire short, then put some heat shrink insulation around the stump.

Obviously without knowing your build I don't think people will be able to give you a list of things are are OK to remove. Ultimately any plug that goes nowhere can be traced back and removed!

from your pictures you appear to have the rear right loom inline connector (picture #2) - that will be running rear lights so you'll need at least something there.
The other pictures look like they're part of the restraint system (module in front of the shifter is the airbag module) - I have removed all of this and traced the wires back to their inlines. But that yellow plug in front might be the OBD connection?

Is it strictly a track car or will it see the road?

That will dictate how much you can remove, as you'd still need the airbag ecu in place but just the lights coded out.

Track car you could just remove and pull the LED's from the dash cluster.

Hi thanks very much for your reply. It’s a road legal car, I use it for hill climbs in road going class but I’m aloud to strip the carpet back so I’ve done that to loose some weight. Just needs tidying up
