Stucked gas pedal and engine went into redline?!

Ok I had this strange situation. I pushed pedal to the metal in second gear, pushed clutch, depressed gas and it engine went into redline. Na-na-na-na!! OK i left it in neutral gear, stoped, parked car in a seconds, an turned it off. Then i realised that gas pedal was still down. I picked it up and then everything was OK. It went down and up normaly. I was kicking pedal at home (with engine turned off obviously :rasp but i always returned back.
Anyone had same problem? It does stuck a little when pedal comes almost to the end (i was told it's sensor that has something with speed limiter) so you have to push it harder last centimeter but could it be something with that? It's not thas serious problem but it's annoying.

I had similar recently, turned out the pedal got caught on my floor mat!

Well it could be floor mat but at that time all a did was that i pulled pedal back so i didn't check if it was that. I hope it was, obviosly it's common.
