Stud conversion kits

  BlackGold 182
I have bought a stud conversion kit and will be fitting tomorrow, how many people have used them? They are the screw in studs and then nuts, just want to know how safe they are and if likely to come loose?

I've had a couple of sets on different cars, always loctite'd them in, and used two nuts locked together to tighten them into the hub. Never had one come loose, including hard track day use.

on the part of the stud that the wheel will go onto, use to nuts tightened against each other, then when screwing the thread into the hub you can get a spanner on the nuts and tighten the thread. having the 2 nuts tight together will mean they will not move on the thread. think if it as tightening a bolt in theory. then once the stud is on, use 2 spanners to undo the 2 nuts and job done.

Ahh I get it now, that's a much better idea. I did buy a nut without an open end so that would tighten but I'd rather do your way.

What length studs did you use? I think I bought 40mm ones and 60mm as I was gonna use spacers at the rear. The 40mm ones seem so short but then the bolts that we normally use on renaults are the same length and are fine lol

Just a quick point when you undue the 2 nuts, hold the top one in position and screw the lower one on to seperate the nuts, this way you are less likely to damage the loctite bond as you are screwing it on, so are tightening the stud.
