sub box sliding around in boot.

any ideas what i could do to stop this happening. the thing is, is that i want to be able to take it out easy so i can get to my spare if needs be.
was thinking of putting a massive slab of velcro under it but cant find anywhere that sell big sheets of the stuff. can only find the heavy duty stuff from halfrauds which i have already tryed and it held for all of 2 days.

Drill through the bottom of the box. Drill through your boot floor. Nuts and bolts.

B&Q sell velcro by the meter, thats always been a good bet for me. other than that, out with the drill as Alex has said.

I used a big strap like the ones you use for roof boxs and stuff. A rachet jobby.

Or you could put it under a boot net.

You dont need no MASSIVE SLAB of velco mate... I had a 12" and a 10" sub held down with just the normal (what 15/20mm wide) velcro. Just done in a square on the bottom, when its been on a few days and the weight of the sub has dun its work it won't go anywhere. Mine never did, even with some spirited driving

It was my carpet that kept sliding about, so i used double sided carpet tape stuff and its not moved since !

I've got two strips of the Halfords heavy duty velcro on mine and have had no issues. Used it in my last car and the same velcro lasted 3 years with no probs.

if you can use a bungee on the hooks where the boot net clips in, and the bungee sits under the cone of the sub and holds it snug

^^^ not true! i have velcroed my sub box just the hook side to the box and just put it down on the carpet! my sub doesnt move one little bit and its not the lightest of sub boxes ive every come across!

another suggestion - make up a board for the boot floor and screw another strip of wood onto it, to keep the box in one place

When I rolled my car, if someone had been in the back they probably would of been dead due to a sub box only being velcro'd down! Flew around the boot and bent the rear back of the seat a hell of a lot!

yeh but he just wants to stop it sliding about! thats all i was gettin at! my sub takes abit of work to get off the boot floor and its just velcroed down! in the event of an accident then maybe things will be different but the op wants to be able to easily remove the sub and original thread states how can i stop my sub sliding around in my boot! not whats the safest way to secure my sub incase i roll my car!

I don't think anyone plans on rolling there car do they? So it should be bolted down. Doesn't even have to take sub out to to it. Two "L" brackets either side screwed to the box then bolted externally of sub box. Paint black and will look hidden!

what about easy removal! if he had a puncture and was at the side of the motorway the last thing he wants is to be unbolting his sub to get his spare wheel out!

I actually trying to work out how big his sub box is lol! I had a nice box with 12" sub and just had it screwed to the floor, could access the spare wheel easy! Could get too long bits of stud and bolt right through the sub box from the top, two bolts to undo compared to the amoutn of times he needs the spare wheel should be ok I think!

well i had a 12" sub in my old car and i couldnt get the spare wheel out without tipping the sub on its side! pain in the arse! i was just thinking of the OPs original post!

the easiest way is to build a false floor, build a wood frame with either a solid mdf board on it so you can maximise bootspace or with an amp window. the sub box is sunk into the floor, trapping it in place.
the board can easily be lifted out to give access to the spare wheel well

i think the false may be the best bet as my sub box is made from fibre glass and is molded to the shape of the n/s corner behind the seat so isnt your convetional shaped box.

well ive used to bungie ropes the ones u use to keep your boot closed with the hooks at either end and cliped um on the little bracket in there just behind the seets the little luggage things would go out an show u but its 11;30 and its cold
