Sub problem mystery!!

  Clio dynamique 1.4 16v
Hi all, I've mentioned in the past on a few posts about my sub going of intermit. I've checked everything and can't see why i'm having this problem. This weekend i noticed that it happens more often when the volume is lower (like when i have a passenger), but if i crank it up, the sub kicks in again. Anybody Help please???

80% sure is a good start, cos at the mo i'm 100% confussed. If it was the earth, wouldn't the whole amp go off?

IIRC, The remote lead is what puts the lights onto the amp.

Then if the amp loses its ground it will hav the protection light (red) come on most likely

I may stand corrected tho..seems like the problem i use to have

What headunit, as most headunits only put out a decent signal when they are turned up past 3/4 of volume.

Also what is the voltage from your headunit RCA? 2v or 5v

my HU is the ida-x001, but it was doing it on my old alpine too just before changed. It never used to do it.

where are you earthed to? and the remote carries the signal to the amp from ignition live to turn it on thats all,,, only some amps indicate with a red light....

also have you checked the connection as said above if you dont want to earth it to the bodywork find the cars original earthing points and earth it to there may need to extend the wire tho,

I had a fiddle with the leads on the amp last night, gave them a little shake to see if any are loose and one of them made the protection light come on, but i still don't know which one caused it!!!

replace each wire one at a time to test which one is causing your problem, cheapest method available but it will be down to the wiring, may just be you have a crap connection on your remote, tis what it sounds like, try that cable first as its only as thick as doorbell wire :p
