SUB PROBLEM PT2

The Boosh!

Car  Elise, Duster
following on from the thread about the sub constntly being live... i fixed that problem for my mate and anyway... now when he turns the volume above 20, it goes off. what could this be?

I had this problem ages ago.. iirc the earth wasnt strong enough
maybe wrong though as i have trouble remembering yesterday

the connection.. where have you earthed it? possibly need to make sure the connections metal to metal..ie no paint inbetween

earthed to a bar behind the seat.. il try pickingh some paint away. his car is a seat btw

Could be a few things;

1, Poor amp earth site/connection....(as previously suggested)...
2, Poor power supply, (Power cable too small)...
3, Loose connection in power feed...
4, Amp gain too high...
5, Load impedance too low...

sounds like the amp is clipping out, try turning the amp gains right down to nothing, then turn up the head unit untill it starts to sound s**t, then turn the gains back up on the amp until the sub just starts to distort. thats if that is the problem though. i would try that before ripping out all the wires and replacing them. then if it doesnt work at least you know that it is the wires or connections
