Sucking Noise?

Ok, did a search for this but couldnt find anything. Ive recently noticed a 'sucking' noise coming from the engine bay in my 1.2. Is this normal? Also, what is the weee black metal cover thing behind the engine that lifts on/off?

is the airbox or feed pipes to the airbox connected? do you have an induction kit?

As far as I can tell everythings connected and no induction kit either. Also, when I press the accelerator, it makes the sucking sound, the engine sounds as if its going to cut out but it keeps going.

The small metal box covers your electric throttle mech... they're normally a b*****d to get off.

Have been told this could be something to do with a vacuum hose, aircleaner or intake manifold gaskets. This likely?
