The sunflower register thread showed about only few on road with most scorned.
Think 29 or 30 were accounted for and about 20 odd at most left

What are the plans for it? What needs doing?

firsst job was to disinfect the interior, after 8 years in the garden there was a good layer of bacteria.

the sills need some work and should be addressed in the coming weeks with a bit of luck. engine management light is on, think it is either coil pack and injector change and will be healthy.

i have all the partse needed to rebuild it back to standard. it always has been a standard car apart from a set of proline springs due to it breaking a standard spring when i had it on the road.

it surprises me how good this car is, apart from the sills there is no rust, the paintwork needs some work.

think im going to do get the engine running as it should and get the sills sorted then decide what to do with it from there onwards.

Sounds good, I’m putting my sunny back to standard, this is good inspiration for me.

Deffo best to do the mechanicals first then address the bodywork.

Good to see you're making a start! Was talking to someone about this a few weeks ago. will be load of these in a few years that are going to be quite tidy. Hopefully mine wont be at the painters too much longer now.

Must be something in the air. Mine is getting its refresh too. Rear end refreshed and onto interior.
Front suspension next then much saving for it to go to bodyshop to tidy couple bits up.

Good to see we are all looking after these

Interior back together after inner sills sorted with Dynax S50

Interior is ok for a 20 year old car with its own ecosystem living in it !

Changed the oil and filter today, the first for 9 years. You should see the crap that came out of it !

A silly annoyance of mine.... I hate it when chassis sections are left unpainted.

When I first took my front bumper off and the cross-member was all untidy. No one ever sees it, but you know it's there, lol....

I get the practical side of it - but it still bugs me! Obviously yours is different if it was originally silver anyway.

I remember seeing some supercar production documentary where they did similar and the robots completely skipped the inner sections of the chassis. Made worse by the fact that the entire welded chassis was dipped beforehand and then the layers of paint only coated about 75% of the car.

If I'm paying six-figures for a bloody car - I want it done properly!

All back together again after fitting a new cambelt kit, idles smoother now and picks up very nicely. Took me over a week to do but that includes waiting for new parts to arrive and I resealed the cam cover as it was leaking, for reference I used loctite 518. I replaced all of the fasteners including the stud in the exhaust cam as I didn't like the look of the threads. Felt a bit nervous pulling on the torque wrench but they finally pulled up to correct torque. I didn't think the process was too bad, using the tools (although not Renault, so took my time) it could be done with somebody with reasonable home mechanic skills. I actually found fitting the aux belt and tensioner the most fiddly, there isn't much room down there.

I'm off for a test drive 👍

Had a run out this evening after fitting new driveshaft and cup shocks, has improved the drive massively
