Sunroof Noise

  The Jinx

Noticed that today when I closed it and it reached its stopping point its making a ratchety clicking noise over and over. Is it supposed to?

Sounds like its still trying to close rather than just stopping.

Also. Whats the best method of getting the plastic sunroof frame away from the roof?

Pull back all of the roof lining and undo all of the bolts for removal, as for the clicking, are you holding down the button ? because if you hold down the button when its shut the motor might still be trying to close it and keep clicking !!

Yeah Im holding down the button. I just assumed that even if you held it down it would automatically stop trying to close itself, as it knows its shut.

Is that plastic frame not just glued on with the seal then? Sounds like a right ball-ache removing the headlining.

Jay. Do I need to take the headlining off to get the plastic frame off? I mean the main frame that sits on the roof round the glass. I think this is where my leak is. Although the leak isnt as bad since I cleaned up the seal and greased it.

Ill also check out the aerial base, especially since its been off anyway and not put back on straight!

remove the inner sunroof trim.pull down the roof lining slightly so you can undo the 10m bolts(think there is 16).remove the roof drain tubes from the frame.disconnect any moter connections.lift the plastic frame out from the top.

Oh great. Now Im really looking forward to doing this! Hmm. Might leave it a while. Its not leaking in too badly, and only after seriously prolonged or heavy rain.

there not that bad.get a new frame to roof seal for about £30.dont silicone it because it never lasts and when you have to do it again its a pain to remove.
