Supercharger Question

Just been reading some of the threads on here about Supercharging Clio's and have a quick question about it.

Why do you have to remove A/C when doing this modification?

Is it not possible to keep it? because im considering having this done, but do like A/C in the summer

Its to do with the pulley system iirc.

the belt for the charger uses the one for the a/c.

who cares if you lose it, not a big deal, means you can bin a decent bit of weight as well by completely removing it.

true. but its not a huge penalty to pay for circa 250bhp from the car.

Id be more worried about the gearbox reliability than the a/c being lost tbh.

I see fair enough, looks like the windows are gonna be down if i decide to go ahead with it, will jst make enjoying the engine note all the more pleasurable lol!

for all the good weather we get as well its not a huge sacrifice.
I find it more useful for clearing the windscreen though.

Buy a spare gearbox as you will more than likely need it, oh and look at changing the clutch as well.

Deffo change the clutch and box, neither will last 5 minutes, or the engine. Superchargers also melt your alloys

Yeh ive been talking to StevieH on here about the gear box issue, and quite like the sound of putting a DCI box in...

dci box ratios are completely different

Touchwood my gearbox and clutch (year old) have been fine! If your gay enough to want air con you don't deserve a supercharger lol!

Yeah dci gearbox suits the turbo/supercharger. Higher top end aswell. 120 in 3rd Yo.

Do you mean a DCI80 box? Does it take much to put in or is there alot of alterations need?

I'd imagine the dci boxes are weaker, I ran one on my Williams and it didnt last long...

And yeah you can keep aircon, just no one has figured to run an electric pas pump yet.
