Has anyone done any more research into a supercharged 172 though? Sure someone found a German company that did one a couple of years ago.

The only problem is getting a enough area around the pulley from the belt drive.

Scrap the aircon pump and stick a charger in its place - you can do anything to anycar if you have the money and resources.

Eaton M45 Supercharger (Cooper S) is designed for 1lt - 2lt engines. From what ive found you can run fit it to most 4 cylinder engines. From the charger run its own IK/Also need an intercooler to run inbetween charger and TB. You would also need custom mountings and fittings.

Shouldnt be too hard and would see reasonable gains. The mini cooper S runs 6psi and develops 55bhp over its non supercharged equlivelent. And they can be bought for arond £100 from ebay

get a stainless bracket made up and polish it, it will look mint.

I would rather get a LP Turbo on really. Superchargers take up power to make power.... Van Aaken have been doing LPTs for ages on things like the Ford Ka.

they go for peanuts on e-bay, ive been watching them for a while now. You could fit it in place of the PS or air con pumps without too much trouble. The standard pulley wheel looks like it will mate up with the alternator belt.

Seeing as i've removed both of those pumps maybe i could fit two

Spoke to him a while ago. Everything is running well, just seeing how the engine copes with the power before getting it remapped again.
BB tunings own 172 turbo (last rolling roaded at 324bhp) has had extreme testing to ensure the engine can handle all that power, then steve will return his car for some more boost lol

You can turbo the 1.2 and 172 engine but to make serious power you need to lover the compression or fix the head otherwise you'll be limited to about 130 and 210hp.
Cost well ktec looked at a kit for the 1.2 for about £3~4k I think but the same clutch they gave up now I think. You can get a 172 setup for £1.5k even fitment won't cost an extra £1.5k and thats cluctch gearbox brakes suspension etc.
Stock 1.2 and 172 clutchs and gearbox arn't tup to it IMO 130 and 210hp with corespondind thorque is there limt. Also to run those powers you need to cool the air so an interccoler. You also need to map the engine and run either uprated injecotors that not bad say £180 for the injectors and £350 for a remap to run. Then £500 for an intercooler depends what type you might get one for £20 at a scrapped then you just need the piping made up. You coudl run more power thinking about it with higher RON fuel but obviousys cost limited.
The bits list adds up
Remap £350 or so
£60 for a MAP sensor to understand boost.
However real price sfor a specilast to setup you'd be looking ata lot more then assuming the block isn't striped and you accept say 200hp on normal fuel expect to pay about £4.5k.
Then the stock cluctch will fail so you need a uprated padel type thats £500 or so including fitment.
Aux belts and mounts say £200
Injecotors £180
Piping £150
Intercooler £100
Air filter and relevent stuff £150.
