Suspension Ball Joint

  172 Cup
Need to replace nearside lower front suspension ball joint to pass MOT. Phoned PartCo and there computer states that the one they stock is not for the 2.0 16v model. Does anyone know if it is the same for all models or different and it is Main Dealer part only.

Car = 172 Cup (03 reg)

Any help appreciated and thanks in advance.

you have to buy the complete wishbone which comes with the ball joint from renault only around £60

I think he's right, it is a wishbone with a ball joint combined. Not listed as a separate part (the ball joint).

Yep, I have just had to buy 2 complete wishbones just to get the ball joints which bolt on anyway. You can just unbolt them from the new wishbones and bolt them onto your old ones, but why not either fit the whole thing, or use ot as an excuse to replace the wishbone bushes with powerflex like I did? £60 per side from Sunwin in Notts.

The ball joint can be bought seperate the Renault system just doesn't list it as such its the normal car part th Scenic etc also use the same part.
Might as well chnage the whole wishbone though IMo £50 a side each list trade price is £25 each so try asking for trade discount.

I have changed both my balljoints, cost me £9 each from my factors, sod changing the whole arm just for a balljoint, thats nearly as bad as changing a whole driveshaft just for a torn gaitor.

OK, think I might do that. I would normally just buy a new wishbone but i've already forked £200 last month on the car. :(

I seem to remember seeing a set of new 172/182 wishbones for sale on ebay the other day. Dont know if they have ended yet though.

The part is externally the same as the normal car one (so long as you don't buy the rare smaller sized hole one in which case you'd have to drill the holes up or use the downsized bolts).

Please read my above post though.
