Tailgate creaking and wont stay up

Sorry if in wrong section (wasn't sure if this belongs on Tuning and mechanical), but my tailgate creaks a lot when opening and it also feels heavy. Ive also noticed that it wont stay up as easily as usual.

Any ideas what it could be?

yeah but the tailgate was removed when she had the respray so I know they will blame the bodyshop

Lmao!! Don't think new struts are expensive anyway and it's worth a try under warranty.
