Taking apart the petrol cap?

Can it be done easily? Mine was frozen solid this morning - annoyingly at the petrol pump waiting to fill up. :(

It's defrosted now and came off no problem. However shaking the petrol cap results in a lot of sloshing water within the cap itself. Can I take it apart to dry it properly?

Cheers,
D.

Throw a match in :clown: that should dry it up in no time!

NO! Just pour some luke-warm water around it, give it a good clean and dry with an old rag/paper roll
Then spray a little grease or even silicon lube around the locking part of the cap itself - cured mine last year it always stuck in the frosty weather

Job done :)

Thanks Tigger. I gave the lock a good greasing and so far, so good. Before that, actually squeezing the outer 'lip' of the cap saw a lot of water drip out of the leading edge. I did this for a few minutes until the water stopped leaking out and then left it on the radiator for a few hours, before greasing.

I did think of the match idea, but something at the back of my mind said that it would be wise not to. ;)
