taking out and putting in 182 seats

hi have a 182 ff and i have the recaros out of my old cup how easy is it to change them over i have heard its just 4 bolts under the car and the air bag plug under the seat

is it that easy

ps when you disconnect the bat for the air bag plug is there any time delay if so how long as i dont want to pull it apart and they go off

I always leave it about 20-30 mins between disconnecting the battery and touching anything airbag related.

Yeah 4 nuts on the studs that hold the seatframe in that you access from under the car. Outer ones have grommets covering them and the inner ones dont (there's potential to cut your fingers to ribbons on the cat heatsheild which has cut outs to access them). Disconnect the battery then seatlooms then 4 nuts and out it comes.

sorry mate dont want to sound like a numpty but what are resistors

as the recaros are out of my cup i thought its just put them in and plug the air bag plug into the recaros as they have the same plug on them

ps i know recaros dont have air bags but def has the plug

You'll need a deep socket and a small extension for the ratchet from memory (been a few months since I did the job)

iirc matey when you disconnect the side airbag clips from the seats in your full fat you will need to put a resistor in each side to stop the airbag light on your dash coming on seeing as your recaros dont have side airbags!

i had to do this with my misanos and im sure its the same for the recaros

i used 3ohms resistors (i think lol) and they were 15p each from maplins

as long as your careful there shouldnt be a problem! i didnt disconnect my battery either

no i want to keep the rear leather even thought the match is not great

i now have an artic like yours love it its all cupped up

as they are from my 182 cup i hope the recaros have the kit already

i havent got pics but if you get yourself 2 resistors then have a look at the air bag plug you can pretty much see where to stick each end of the resistor! i stuck mine in , the light went out and i secured the resistor

So your inferno will have full fat seats in the front and poverty spec cup bench in the back .. that surely won't help the sale will it ??

Nah i'll get the full fat seats in mine and the inferno will get my cloth ones.
I'll buy the back bench later.

what is that clip all about

clip is the name of the system which reno use to plug in to change/check the settings on the ecu/onboard comps. they can plug it in and turn off the side airbag lights ect

im not sure but i would assume that all dealers with servicing departments will have it

if some main dealers are arsey about doing it for you or want to charge you loads then find a local smaller dealer and they will probably be happy to help if you pass a bit of silver across their palms

just spoke to my dealers round my area and they said they would not do it as i could take them to court if i had a crash as the side airbags would be turned off. recaros and cups dont have side airbags there must be a setting

MY RENAULT DEALER IS GAY

Take it a small garage could not do it????

basically they are just being arses! the trophies and recaro spec clios just have the side airbags turned off by CLiP!

they are just being knobs by not doing it for you! i bet if you bought the recaros from them, then they would happily turn it off for you!

its all about the money with the damn stealers
