Anyone know a good set ? Have a 172 engine sat in the garage and the head has so many stripped/ cross threaded threads on it. Will also be usefull for when Im rebuilding stuff.

As far as I'm aware most cheap kits don't last very long so I'm avoiding them.

Price wise, I'm not complaining unless it get silly pricey over £200

Help appreciated

If a bolt/hole is stripped then tapping is not going to help. You would need an insert in the hole or replace the bolt.

I have a basic Draper set at home which has been alright to me, I tend to just ask my mate for certain sizes from his work when needed. Renault have some funny tpi on certain things too.

Good taps and dies are ££'s.

Found a HSS kit for £40 on eBay. Only does M3 to M12

Should be alright ?

Whats the f4R done in, metric or imperial ?

Its all metric but the tpi (threads per inch) are funny on some bits, same with most manufacturers.

And Renault like to use fecking m7 thread for some reason on sump bolts and oil pump covers etc.

I'll get a kit ordered then.

As far as I know it's only the head thats been messed with, the bottom end looks to be untouched before me
