Taped the Exhaust manifold??

Just saw some thermo tape on local tuning shop. What's the purpose to taped the exhaust manifold?? Are they really useful on our car?? thx :boring:

Mainly for track use keeps the heat in the manifold and down pipe so improving gas flow through the system and also reduces under bonnet temps.
