tappets ?

hi i have a 1.2 1998 mk2 ph1 and the tappets are sounding a little loud, are they self adjusting or should i have a bash at the tappet clearances ?

also does the redex stuff make any difference ?

check your oil level? should be self adjusting

yeah my oil is ok thinking of doing a service soon though

make sure you use decent oils, cheap oils loose there state after a few miles and turns to like water. Might be the reason your sounds tapety

what oil do you recomend ?

i think they use 10w 40 fully synthetic? i always use millers 5w 40 in mine, i know castrol goes watery after a little while. I would go for something like mobil, fuchs or millers
