Tapping noise at Idle on Clio 172 Phase 2

  Suzuki Swift Sport
Hi there,

I have a 2002 (52) clio 172 phase 2 with 28k miles. It has had cam belt and aux belt done. I have recently noticed that when im sat in traffic I get a tap tap tap tap tap noise coming from behind the bulkhead. This sounds much like a clutch release bearing noise however its not related to clutch movement - Ie if i dip the clutch in it still makes the noise.

Also when the car is revved at idle the noise gets faster then dissappears, when the car returns to idle the noise goes, but then slowly comes back.

Anyone any ideas what it could be? its not particularly loud (I have to turn stereo off and fan off before I can hear it) but it is slightly worrying me!

Thanks

Nick

Is it a tap or more of a click? My injectors click like crazy, but you can only hear it on idle as the engine noise drowns them out.

I'd put serious money on it being that. Rev it to say 4k, if it dissapears, then comes back after 10 seconds or so it will be that. iirc £44 for the part, situated in the drivers side wheel arch. Pierce of piss to change!! Used to drive me mad on my Cup!!
