Tax on a DCI if you put a sport engine into it.

reliability issues with 1.9 and 2.2dci engines, 1.5's are fine apart from the odd fuel pump/injector as with all comon rail diesels regardless of manufacturer. tuning a car is never the best way to get maximum reliability regardless of it running on petrol, diesel, having a turbo, being a renault or not

5k service intervals and long journeys as i do and you will have no problems

I didn't miss the point at all. I just couldn't care for your smart arse comments. Reliabilty can be questioned about any car that's been messed with its all part and parcel. If it breaks I just drive my other car untill its fixed doesn't bother in the slightest. My turbo went that cost 150 so ni big issue. My injectors before my remap as I was using fuel that was meant to go in my dads truck so that's my fault. My car is on nearly 120k so I expect breakages. It gets a full service every six months. I've nearly had it 3 years and put over 50k on it so I think its doing me well.

  Better than yours. C*nt.
Apparently the turbos eat themselves and the engine, something to do with it just letting oil into the combustion and it runs itself on it's own oil?

Your correct. I've. Been told this by a few people. My turbo didn't do that it just seized up. I have a new one now so fingers crossed its ok.

Obviously another person that doesn't read through properly. Ps your avatar suits you quite well ;-)

at the end of the day i own and drive both, straight line flying thru the revs the 172 is a good bit faster, but not that much faster that it would pull a great deal of distance over the course of a few bends! the dci will still quite happily redline @ 130 where the 172 will run out of puff at just over 140, and where the 172 slowly pulls to its top speed the dci just pulls and pulls, then drops off the power and stops so getting there doesnt take a while!

as ive said i own both, i have previously owned an extremely fast 172, i have no reason to be biassed towards the dci, im just giving credit where credit is due

kmh? lolz

Yes, I am a c**k.

Lol kmh? So you saying a dci 100 will only go about 70-75 hitting the redline in 5th?thanks for proving my previous post x

Erm yes well about 128 if you want to be fussy. Obviuosly it won't get nowhere near that standard. If you was to hit the limiter in 5th in a dci you would be doing 128mph, speedo indicated anyway.

Someone please find the video of the 1.2 keeping up with the 172 on a track. Prove that its not all about speed and that a good driver and good suspension set up can be just as good.

It isn't about speed I couldn't give a rats arse about that. People just pop into threads and act the big super hero of CS without reading properly. It seems to be a constant fault on this forum, its all entertainment though.

no its not an issue you service it, it wont happen. in the same way the cambelt on a 172/182 isnt a weak point, however muppets dont change them and look how many storys you hear about them snapping...

if you understood how an engine worked you would realise that but clearly you dont since you are relying on posts by matt black to argue about something you dont even own or have any experiance with, why are you here again?

But 'it's not an issue' - evidently it does still happen.

I make you right mike but theris issues with majority of motors that are not treated right. Throwing the whole sump of oil in tho is a concern hence why my car gets serviced every 6months, infact its had 3 oil changes in the last 6 months.

if you can find a 100 then they are deffo worth the extra premium, 80 is a nice compromise though, 100 is a lot better to drive though due to the 4th engine mount and hydraulic clutch

Not a massive fan of the 100 because they're too rare - you have to compromise too much if you're after something fairly specific.

Reliability of my 80s were impeccable. Did 80-odd to the gallon too.

the problem with a 100 is if you find one you need to take what ever colour and spec you can get although same can be said for the 80 but not as extreme i was just lucky i got black with climate, electric sunroof and cd changer which is what i wanted

Yep. They're not bad cars, just think someone needs to make their way back to planet earth if they think they can keep pace with a 1*2!

spec wise a 100 and 80 are much the same, if your asking about the technical side then yes their are a few differences mechanically but as far as driving comes into it the 100 you get the better gearbox, their is people who say its crap, it just takes getting used to, if youve driven a mk3 clio, mk2 laguna or mk2 megane then its the same box, once you get used to it its a pleasure to use though! plus the clutch is awesome, you only have to lift it a few CM off the floor for it to bite! its so light too
