  2008 Clio 1.2 TCE
OK, so i am going to upgrade my brakes as one of them has warped.

can someone recommend brakes to go for?

i don't know wether to go for an aftermarket set or genuine renault parts, perhaps the 197 brakes?

opinions please.

cheers

Whats wrong with the standard brakes? You'd probably have to get different hubs for 197 brakes due them being 5 studs.

I didn't ask why is he changing his brakes r****d. Simply asked what was wrong with the STANDARD set up. Just replace like for like, my TCE brakes are very good imo. No need for upgrading, and mine are only 10% down from new according to Renault...08 plate.

like i said read ^

They may be adequate for your driving style but not his as he has warped them. Also, I personally would not replace a warped disc with a new version of that same disc as it's not a great sign of quality. Or is that suggestion just retarded?

Now leave this thread some space so he can actually get some helpful replies.

In his defence, there was nothing wrong with the question. The OP might think that the effectiveness of the current set up is fine, thus, replacing like for like would maybe be the best route. You can just get a bad example of something you know. So stop trying to be a smart arse and unless you have any valuable input (I have noticed you have not even bothered to answer the original question), maybe take your own advice?

OP: As per the first reply, I'd just go with standard again tbh. If both were warped then maybe I'd look for something else. What is your diving style like?

Thank you! Standard set up is very good IME, probably cheap enough too. Would warped discs come under warranty? Surely worth a try!

Not overly aggressive but the odd night the car might get a fair bit of thrashing between roundabouts as mates try to race:eek:

Warranty is void already mate due to coilovers, dump valve and induction kit. Dealer would even give me a new door membrane under waranty as he said "Your car is letting in water due to the change in ride height, this means your car is picking up the water and sending it straight towards your door and into where it is leaking"
i just laughed and said ok ;):rasp:

I'm pretty sure they have to prove the modifications you have made are the cause of the problems, but I'm not 100% (that would make the water leak theory ballocks).

Just got for OEM again. You don't sound any worse than me or my mate when we had our Clio's, and mine were fine for 26K.
