Techy figures people

  Clio v6

V6 3.0 240 bhp

Car weight 2035 k

0 - 60 in 8.5 secs.

If this engine was put in a car weighing only 1035 k

What would you expect the 0 - 60 to be ?

4 secs, or is it just not that simple?

Just curious.

Remember the weight of the engine aswell! would expect it to be around the 5-6 sec mark.

And Im helping a mate build a car with that exact stats (3.0 v6 1000kg ish maybe less) so Ill let you know when we find out how fast it is!

Down to traction I guess.

Really 30-100 would be impressive but I doubt it would get a great 0-60 (assuming its FWD)

My old man built a 3.5 v8 with similar weight figures. 1st gear was mental, 2nd could be used at junctions to pull away in a decent manner!

I dont think he ever got enogh traction to get sub 4 sec...

I assume you going to have rear wheel drive as that will affect the 60 time to many hp in a front wheel drive = wheelspin.
A quick glance in evo shows that a car with a power to weight of ~240hp/ton and rear wheel drive aboit 5 second to 60.
The fastest production front wheel dirve (the RS focus) has a 60 time of 5.9 seconds with a power to weight of 170hp per ton. 220hp is about the limit a front wheel drive car can take according to a Saab engineer. Any more and it become wasted in the 60 dash due to wheel spin.

eh?

220?

Go have a look state side and see what sort of silly power they are pushing through the front wheels on what they call imports!

Then they have the FWD drag racing class!!!!
