temp gage problem

  RSTUNER'ED-C&B'ED RS-1
Hi All,

Recently got the thermostat and temperature sensor replaced just because of the high temp readout off the speedo (not all the times normally gage stays at the halfway on the scale).

The attached pics are showing where the dial stays when the water temp is at 98 C. I got the numbers from the RSTUNER software which allows me to log the water temp data. I think the level of the gage is way off for 98C temperature. Today I checked the level of the gage for different temperatures starting from cold start. Up to 50C, it stands at C then 70C rises to the first quadrant, 90 halfway on the scale.

I am not quite sure whether it is a physical cooling problem or sensor or speedo problem? Should I get a new radiator as well? What could be the reason?

Thanks for the replies.

fan cutting in ?
dont just throw parts at it get the problem diagnosed.

yep you are right,

fan cutting in when the water temp hits 99C.

I can see that the water is circulating from the water bottle.

you say its an intermittant fault,, i'd say a wiring fault with the fan (especially if it sometimes sits at half way

Is there any fuse connected to the fan? Yep it is intermittant indeed.

I suspected the speedo itself. Tomorrow I am gonna find a replacement speedo and see what happens.
