Temp gauge rising.

Checked the Coolent level and it was a tad low. So topped it up with some anti freeze. Was fine today but ten noticed the temp gauge rising a lot. Got home too find the coolant lid had popped off and my header tank had no water in. So filled the tank back up untill it was half way. Let it tick over on the drive for 10 mons and all seemed ok. Then decided too take it around the block. Again everything seemed ok but then it started too rise again. Pulled over too check the coolant level and it was overfill.

I can maybe understand that I might have a air lock maybe now but why the loss on coolant so quickly for it then too happen a second time? If that makes sense.

Just popped too see a mate and he suggests thermostat ask a first call and secondly head gasket. So tomoz as you can guess im fitting a stat and will then see how it goes.

Any other suggestions though please on what and why it's done this will be greatly recieved.

Josh.

You said it could be, plus when refilling you will need to do the correct procedure after changing the thermostat
