Temp needle fluctuating

Is it normal for the water temp needle to sit at a quarter, then say sit in traffic and sit at just over halfish, then when driving the needle to go down to quarter again? It never goes above the just above half area.

If it isn't is it likely to be thermostat?

Oh I also notice that the heating is a bit warmer when sitting in traffic and cools down a bit when driving, not sure if thats related. :rasp:

in traffic your car won't be getting as much air forced into/around it as when it's on the move. once it's on the move the engine gets air forced through/around it helping it cool.

Thanks alot Fred for that really appreciate the response. Just driven into work, driving normally stays 3 notches up, if I sit here for 2 mins it will move up to just above half.

100% thermostat mate just change that it will be fine thats what mine was .
