temperature sensor.

Guys,my car-1,4 16v year 2000 hasnt got an outside temperature sensor(the sensor that is on the mirror)

The question is:if I get from Renault a sensor,and if I attach it to my mirror will it works???

you would need a complete mirror so the wiring is there.might work.

BUMP... just searching though old posts to figure out how to connect up the external temp sensor

i know that the wire goes to one of the pins on the red plug behind the clock/display.

anyone know which pin the sensor goes to. i guess that you need to connect it to a ground somewhere too? ive seen a diagram of the plug posted up before but cant find it now!!!! (edde perhaps?)

then hopefully the display will spring into life!?

oh and if anyone knows the resistance it needs to display certain temps ill whip the dash off and try adn fool it into displaying a temp before i buy the new mirror!

then let everyone know. theres about a million threads about this sensor business!

Ok have had the dash off and found the following...

If you put a resistance on the two end pins of the grey plug the display works and shows a temperature.

1k3 ohm resistor shows 43°C...

and a thermistor that gives 4k7ohms at 25°C shows -2°C.

To get it to display the correct temperature i need to either find the renault external temp sender somewhere, or source a thermistor with the same values.
