Right i've got a machine with XP SP2 pro on it which I want to act as a server which users can access from anywhere on site via Terminal Services, but I only want 3 users to be able to logon to it at the same time

How do I actually install Terminal Services on the acting server and how do I set it so only 3 users can logon at once

Is there any other way to do it then apart from windows 2000 server or 2003 server?

Is there any ways in linux or anything it can be done?

Depends what you intended to share with the terminal services.

Cant do it in linux just looked, its a piece of software called AB Tutor Control

I reckon windows 2000 is gonna be the best option

Ye if its application data sharing then you wont be able to do it in linux.

I would go with Win2k server.

Its pische! Slow as fook and takes an age to boot as it still uses win2k to get to the login screen.

Anyone know how to customise it? Hacks? They have locked it down tigher than a nun, so I cant even have a wallpaper. grrh!

You can indeed fiddle XP to allow multiple simultaneous logins. I've done it and it worked well, google for some guides. Although it doesn't appear to be possible if the PC is on a domain.

Or you could stick VMware on the PC? Then each user could have their own "computer"?

I've never found TS to be slow on any machine.. it uses a few kb a sec max.

Its on a 500Mhz old school Pentium with 128mb RAM! 4mb video ram :dead:

The server is running hunderds of connection.

Would that not be set by your GPO or do they not use AD ?

I thought it was set in my profile, but even IT dont have a clue whats going on.

They have locked it down tighter than you would give access to kids in school. Its a joke. I'm lucky I've still got the interweb.

There have a look at that, it works but you cant have the machine on the domain as you need the welcome screen and fast user switching enabled, but it works for what i need it to do

On Windows I suggest you use Citrix as that's what pays my wages...
