i set up my parents tesco email on vista outlook. recieves emails no problem. but my mum has told me she can't send any as it comes up with an error. somethnig to do with port 25...
i couldn't get a lot out of her as she ain't that tichnical... any ideas?

just checking google now....

if they are using a firewall or router with a firewall built in you'l have to open port 25, its the port for SMTP, which is for outgoing mail

they only have vista firewall.

where do i adjust the port 25 thingy like you say? (i will have to walk my mum through it...)

ah right, well it should already be open then if its vista firewall.....i think...

only thing it might be is that tesco outgoing mail requires authentification (sp? lol).....username/password for the outgoing mail server, because if its not specified itl throw back an error.....

thats set up in the accounts setup screen under servers in outlook

Outgoing mail server: mail.tesco.net
Username: the part of your email address before the @ symbol

you mite need to enable the outgoing settings to secure and put in the username and password.

i.e outgoing server might need authentication
