Tesco insurance shocker (£less)

  Renault Laguna Coupe

After sl*gging off Tesco in a thread earlier this month, I was amazed to get my renewal through the post this week. Last year it was £509, and this year they want £446! I had max NCB already, so it wasnt that. Amazing, a price reduction, and I didnt even ask!

Woah thats well good.

Im currently with Tesco but Ive been quoted £1200 for my 182 which arrives in March (hopefully). Im 24 with full NCB so Im not sure why its so high for me? Ive had a cheaper quote with privelidge.com (£1000) but as Im half way through my current policy, Im not sure how easy it is to swap companies...

You cant swap policies you can cancel your current one with tescos (will only maybe get some money back) and start a new one with privalege. Could work out more tho than just paying the extra with Tescos.

Im 29 but also live in the Highlands which helps a lot. Would be around £700 for a Cossie/Scoob/Evo.

Yeah I guess Ill just have to see which works out the best option. Ive been a bit lazy so far looking for other quotes so I might start hunting this week.

I might also start hunting for a house in the highlands if insurance is that cheap ;)

Shocker is the word!!! Tried TESCO for my pending 182

I am 34, had full no claims discount on my modded golf which covered any mods up to 230bhp. Not insured the Golf for 3 years as I have had a company car. I have had to make a claim for £300 15 months ago when some t**ser dameged my door whilst parked and I have 2 SP50 convictions back in 99 and 00.

Quoted £2800 with zero no claims, in comparison to my broker where I insure my golf who has quoted me £800 with zero no claims.

Tesco may consider my claims history if I telephoned them but even 60% off is still not going to match my broker!!

Get a letter from the lease company that your company car was supplied from. They should be able to confirm your (no) claims history. I did this and Tesco were ok with it.

Cheers Mike,

I had full no claims that would have been knocked back to 3 by the claim for the door, but that was over a year ago. Will get a letter to confirm only one claim and then try a few again. Not rung anybody yet and you cant explain the company car situation for a car off the Net. Even so 2800 is lot at my age, even without no claims??

A lot? Its robbery! Even if I had no NCB Id be paying about 3 x £446 (65% NCB) - thats only about £1300!

Just tried direct line, the quoting pages look the same as tesco and I got exactly the same quote £2800.

Got to be Brentacre in Swansea @ £800 or try to get proof of claims on company car to get a better quote
