The 200

Worked out the mpg rather than using the trip computer. 33mpg!!

I got around the same when testing full tank fills against the trip computer!

Trip said 31mpg and tank full calculation gave 33mpg.

I did a 100 mile motorway run at a constant 80mph (130km/h limit here in France), on calculation from full to full it gave 36mpg, trip was on 34mpg. Quite impressed for moving along at a decent speed.

I'm pretty sure the trip computer in my 200 is out by a bit aswell, mine is showing 24.5 mpg but it really doesn't seem to be using that much more fuel than my 172 did.

Although its a Renault sport, and is therefore marketed as a car that is going to spend its life caning it around twisty roads, reality is that 90%+ of owners will never track it or take it the limits on roads, but will instead use it to go to the shops, drive to work and all the other mundane tasks you'd use a car for. So if Renault were to make it "raw" and unrefined, they wouldnt be listening to what the majority of its buyers want. We are in 2010, not 1996 - people expect a car to be well built, refined, and comfortable, even at the sports car level (unless you are talking proper sports car).

So in that regard, the 200 sounds like the perfect evolution from the 172/182/197, and therefore a success.

As an all round car, it's a better car than the mk2's. But as a hothatch, it's not. The Trophy is more fun, and more feelsome. In years to come when people sit around making top3 lists, the Trophy will be there. None of the mk3's will (so far).

Last months EVO got it spot on of memorable Clio's IMO they picked the best of the bunch, Williams,172,Trophy,V6 and 200. The 197 didnt feature, say's alot about the car.

Is it as simple as that though? In some cars the steering weighting can be programmed electronically......? so it might be more than just swapping the rack?

Good review. Was your old 172 your daily runner? Standard 200 is softer than standard 197.

As has already been mentioned in this thread, 90% of the time cars aren't used in an EVO style. Love my 197, its more than up to the task for ferrying the family around and putting a massive smile on my face when I'm on my own, and still the best looking Clio Sport :rasp:.

No f**king way lol. The only suspension change I'd consider would be kw v3's, the cup setup isn't for me.
