the 4k rattle

had the car in renault today for this feckin rattle at 4k which is just getting worse

renault answer is that is the wrong cat, im like yes its a decat pipe from janspeed.

well thats your problem sir!!

they wouldnt believe me it was there before the decat went on and are prepared to do nowt about it even though its a known problem.

They claim the flange on the decat is too thin for exhaust, any one else had this problem?

Err its the mid section that causes the rattle, do a search and youll find hundreds of threads about it, print them out take them in and you might get a different attitude.

However, if the fault is with the exhaust system, and youve change part of it with a Non-Renault part.... I cant see how youve got a cat in hells chance of gettin Renault to sort it....

Yeah got to agree with that one, might be worth putting the cat back on taking it back to a different dealer getting them to sort it, then put the decat back.

thing is at the end of the day they admitted the flange from the downpipe is a known problem so it wouldnt really matter what the hell was fitted in the place of cat!

but at the end of the day i can see it from both sides, however i believe it to be the mid section!

Think they replaced the whole exhaust system on mine, that was after taking in print outs from this site!!

I think when it comes to dealers, if you go in with a confrontational attitude then your going to get no where and the slightest thing they can find will "void" them doing it under warrenty...

Ive been to a couple of dealers with two problems (3rd on monday, going in all fine) - these are Letchworth and St Albans.. and ive had a fantastic service.. more so from St albans... but still... if this is the way reno treat you then i honestly couldnt ask for more.. my cups fairly modded too. IK, chip lowered etc....... or, maybe its just luck of the draw and how that person your talking to is feeling on the day!!
