The basics of TPF&T

I have a vague idea but I just want to confirm what would happen if I'm in any kind of accident.

If I got TPF&T, would they only pay out if;

- my car was stolen
- my car was set on fire
- I crashed into someone else (they would pay for the other persons damage only)
- someone else crashed into me (they would pay for who?)

Is there anyhting else I should know about?

if someone crashes into you the person who hit you's insurance would fix your car.

if someone hits you then fooks off you dont get anything.

you struggling to find insurance mate!? Try performance direct?

Yeah I've made a couple of threads on here about it, basically tried everyone and those who are good for mods and stuff won't cover me as I'm only 19 (Greenlight etc.)

I'm guessing I get a years NCB with this type of insurance?

Flux have quoted me 1.3k TPF&T so I think I'll go with that now, cheers buddy :)

fark me thats a bit steep! you got points or something?
even so, iv been qouted 1900 FC on a 1*2 with 3 points and a w**k Post code and im 19 :S

i paid less than that my 1st year of driving FC

No just a bad postcode (F catagory). I'm 19, 0ncb, held licence for 8 months. Tbh I've seen so many quotes of 2-3k that I'm more than happy to pay this!

ah souunds about right then lad. i got 2yncb and been driving for 2 years...

insurers take the mick.

They certainly do! If I waited until June (year older + held licence for a year) it would be a lot less, but I can't due to work.

I'd personally take the hit and try and get the cheapest FC quote i could get TPF&F is ok if you have a car that isn't worth much but by the looks of it you've spent a fair bit on yours so i'd be inclined not to go third party...and where the fvck do you live to be getting quotes so high!!

JME - how did you get insured last year ? How much was it then ?
What clio do you have & is it modded ?

Bury in Greater Manchester. My area isn't even 'bad' at all though, no crime whatsoever on my street and surrounding areas. Just one of those things! :(

The cheapest fully comp quote I've got is around £2700 tbh and the car isn't even worth that.

My dad bought the car for me to learn in so added me as a named driver for the year (Quinn-Direct are quite good for learners as named drivers, hence circa £800 last year) Perhaps a bit of a Lusty situation but it's been done now and I want to start my own policy asap!

It's just a Clio 1.2 modded basically to look like a 182.

I just read your other thread too, hmmm - if you've not added your ma to the policy, do that. Other than that you could raise your excess up a bit, what will reduce the premium - it depends how much it is anyway & the statutory excess on it.

I can't really think of anything else, apart from un-modding it.

Making the excess up to around £500 took a fair amount off the price, as did adding the mother, still saw nowhere less than 2k though :(

I think what's making it so high is that I've only held my licence 8 months and I have 0ncb as well as the postcode.

Cheers for all your help lads.

ooft thats extortionate... 3rd party is a risk but its good if your on a budget, you get what you pay for though, not having the car covered if you hit someone is a big risk IMO.
