Just because u have or want a fast car doesn't mean you have to drive it like a t**t.
I'm inclined to agree Notorious - some of the worst things I've done were in a lower powered car, whereas in my modded Escort RS Turbo I was more patient as I had the power to get past people where it was safe but short in distance terms.
I need more power in the valver as it's all about the momentum at the moment, and that's not good! lol

My insurance problems aren't going to let me own a 172 (which I would have had by now if it wasn't for the pigs). All my friends are running around in similar powered cars, and I won't be able to handle being in a 1.2 when they are all flying past me. (Saxo VTR, Nova GSi). Anyway to the point:

i was refering to this, the way it reads to me is if he had a fast car he could keep up with his mates, therefore driving faster and possibly more dangerous.
i know that if you have a fast car you don't have to drive fast but it is so much easier to speed / drive mad, ie you have a fast car and there is 3 cars in front of you all quite close together on a single carrageway, you may think i could make that but if you had a small engine car you would not even contemplate it.

I carried out the move i got banned for.. in a 1.4 corsa. Yeah I wanna keep up with my mates - I didn't say I wanna race them. I just want the power to be able keep with them. A 1.2 would get blitzed by a saxo vts with half the power..

I kinda kept it quiet, I had a pretty s**t year last year so I'm trying to get it all out of the way, hopefully 2007 will be better.. Might even see me at some meets in the summer.. and I'll definately be joining the club officially!! !
My brother used to have a 1.0l nova, in blue and I had to borrow it to get to work (Preston) one day (Sabden - Preston).. He started it with a screwdriver it was that fucked!! hahaha, anyways I stalled in on the main set of lights, just near the prison, had to get out and push it to the kurb and it took me 10 mins to get it started again... Ahhhh The joys of motoring!!

Erm I have, you were speeding in a 40mph zone doing almost twice the limit, overtaking people and as you put it '3ft off your mates bumper'

lol there is a fine line between someone drivign like a bellend and someone driving like a nutter...getting caught is the difference. I'm sure a lot of people on here have gone on blasts out and overtaken a line of traffic or over took in a dodgy place (admittedy maybe not at these speeds or in a 30 limit) then talked about it with m8s and having a laugh as Chewy probably would have if he had not been unlucky enough to over take an off duty copper.

the lads done wrong....paid his fines n served his penalty.
jus cos he wants summat with a bit of poke, doesnt mean hes gunna drive like a muppet. some of the scariest moves iv attempted, and thankfully completed, have been in s**t slow cars, where i have felt under more pressure to do daft stuff cos of the inability to jus put me foot down n go....u have to build up to pass, an if owt comes the other way...mite be another 20 mins b4 u get another chance to build a good run up and pass with momentum.
lads learnt a lesson an askin for advice.............n u lot muller him with ur holier than fukkin thou s**t.......nobs.

I've no problem with him getting a fast car and I wish him all th ebest in finding himself something good. My problem was the way he seems to be blaming the police and calling them pigs when all they did was their job.

why has an off duty policeman got a police radio in his car???
why was the other police car on mcdonalds???
do they not have any other crims to catch??

I see what you mean about the police needing to catch other criminals but at the end of the day, he broke the law and got caught.
What about these hit and run drivers who DO cause accidents and kill people, should the police not try to do anything about it because there are other criminals around?

with regards to your car (as you asked for peoples opinions). get a 1.2, keep it as a 1.2 with no mods. drive around like a granny for several years > then get a more powerful car.
be patient. there is no point getting bummed again by insurance companies.
maybe the real punishment for driving like a nonse isnt just the 1 year ban its the fact you cant keep up with the paxo vts boys.....
Yeah I think thats what I'll do.. run a cheap car for a few years, get my NCB back up, then get a car that will wipe the floor with a poxhall and a paxo

I'm the one with the license and insurance that costs £690 for a 182. You may well be the better driver, who knows. Enjoy your 1.2 that costs at least a grand to insure.

When I was younger, I did some stupid things in cars, as we have all done I'm sure.
Now I'm older, wiser and simply rely on my car, my life and respect other peoples lives too much.
Oh and everyone thinks they're good drivers mate, even me. I've heard it all before from my friends, some of which have crashed their cars and been very lucky.
I used to think I was the best driver on the road when I had my mam's old 1.2 RL. It's not until you drive a faster car and can drive it well, smooth and progressive and under full control ie safely, you realise the 1.2 days are a different world.
Now I'm older, wiser and simply rely on my car, my life and respect other peoples lives too much.

Well I'm 21 now, and this ban has shown me i'm not invincible.. but i've not just driven 1.2s. I borrowed my mum's 172 for a month, and had that thing on the limit plenty of times. My dad's focus ST got a thrashing too..
I don't have any disrespect for people's lives, which is why i'll never drive like a tool on the public roads again.
I'm the only one, out of 9/10 mates that hasn't crashed. EVER. Some of my mates have crashed and dont even have licenses.. I'm not trying to be big headed, but I can drive.

Give it another five years and you'll either have had an accident, points or worse.

3 years, without an accident or a claim or anything. Obviously there was the ban which fucked that up. If I hadn't been banned, I still wouldn't have had an accident. I know it doesn't take a lot to have an accident, as I've witnessed crashes before..
