The DYNO Results

  Volvo S60 T5 asap
Dyno one before is what it read with faulty fuel temp sensor, which made ecu think engine flat cold aparantly, and with 9k miles on seemingly slightly over filled 5w-30 oil.

Dyno two after is what it read after fuel temp sensor fixed, fresh 0w-30 oil and oil filter, with my re-working of the air intake/box setup.

The other pictures are the baby hereself. Fully insured of course with custom intake, means too much to me driving and the car to take risks.

  Turbos.
I like the way the speedo suddenly jumps so it can show 150mph!

Would be interesting to see how that torque figure translates into outright performance. What is the MPG like now?

on my usual trip from just off J36 m1, to ccl off a650 (from J41) I get around 60mpg @ 75-80mph. Normal spirited driving on local twisty roads etc, 45mpg ish, had upto 80mpg out of it at 60mph ish.

Its getting custom ecu-tuned 1 week today. No more peak torque, or no more than another 5lb-ft or so, but tuned in a way that it lasts longer, so I still get max bhp gain (looking at around 180-185bhp a bit further up rev range) will still get same mpg then driven at same speeds, maybe even more, as it need less throttle etc etc.

ah those were the days of decent economy lol

what custom intake you using cupra 160 ??

are you using any of the pikey mods ???

i didnt find it boring at all just relaxing :)
i was never under the impression it was a sports car yes they can pose a challenge to sporty cars in a straight line but it pretty much ends there oh well except in an endurance race lol

tbh i never found my self swapping gears that much either its got the torque to use pretty much any gear any time

I admitt sometimes it would be nice to have to try a bit more, but the extra outright pace over say a 149bhp petrol engine with 149lb-ft, afforded by the 311lb-ft, is very very noticable. its more useful on the move, say 20mph + when its got traction to put torque down as it already moving, floor it at 20mph in 2nd, and it just kamikazi's into govenor (5150rpm or 58mph) now with the induction changes I made.

I am after a shorter final drive ratio for it though, as it will do 90mph in 3rd gear, and I wan't it to be a flying nutter 30-70mph, so 10-15% shorter final drive ratio. Yeah I wont get the "MPG" on motorway I do now, but I want maximum performance possible on country roads and out of 30limits, so I can hare off down road extracting every last lb-ft possible to slingshot to 70 from 30.

Here is a example (boring I know, but it shows its comparable pace on the move) (here are a few times of car's I have driven doing 50-70mph (whatever gear was best time) the times can not be compared to magazines, but they were all done on same road, so can be compared to each other.

8.5sec Volkswagen Polo 1.2 55ps
5.2sec Vauxhall Corsa 1.2 16v Mk C
4.8sec Volkswagen Golf Mk5 1.9 TDI 105
4.4sec Volkswagen Golf Mk5 1.6 FSI
4.0sec Jaguar X-Type 2.0D
3.1sec Ford Mondeo TDCI 130 6speed (last car, same tlc as the VRS)dyno'd at 154bhp & 256lb-ft, another best std car dyno
2.4sec Skoda Fabia VRS (DERVil)

Not the most interesting of reads, but show's you for outright pace what the extra torque has done.

0-60mph I have had in 6.3seconds (before recent air induction mods)

It is also getting re-programmed the morning after south yorkshire meet in Donny (organised by Sarah!!)

If I get to rent or drive a 172/182 I be able to test that on same roads.

If someone can point me in direction of a Renault Rental company, or a rental company that will rent a 172 or 182 out for weekend, I would love to test drive one, and part of it, I will do its in gear times.

6.3 how? since when have they been that quick

Since they were made actually. Wait... Are we talking about diesels, I thought it was the 1.8T from the Octavia with a new intercooler, 700cc injectors, hybrid turbo and a K+N induction kit... The diesel won't do 0-60.:quiet:
