Clio 172, Escort RST
Wannabe track car I reckon. The cage only had spreader places for two of its 6 feet! The cage has now long gone along with evidence of it ever being there.
The history of the car is something like the following.
It was stripped to a shell where it was previously converted this way and then rebuilt back up afresh with a new Power Engineering 1.9 engine, to replace the one that had been there (also a 1.9). It then went from a specialist who built it up to his friend. It laid parked up for ages. It then went elsewhere where there were problems with the 1.9s running. The ZVH then went in its place. The next owner wanted to do what I was doing to it but then decided it was too much work. After that I entered the picture. Since I have sorted a number of niggles he is keen to buy it back....
It's sporting alot of mods. The spec is something like the following:
Engine:
1.8 ZVH
Stage 3 head and a Piper 285T camshaft on a vernier pulley
CR Turbos Hybrid T3 (Stage 2.5)
Pace Chargecooler system
MFII 5th injector system with a dedicated high impedance injector
Alloy header tank S1 spec
Bailey breather system
Samco hoses throughout with stainless clips
Drivetrain and suspension
Late BC5 with LSD
Helix 4 paddle clutch (Jesus, that clutch is horrific!)
Stock wheels with Nankang NS-2R tyres all round
Fully polybushed
Leda coilovers all round
Interior:
Slowly but surely being returned back to stock.
With a stock interior, a normal(ish) clutch and the stock exterior bar the tyres I reckon the Escort will be a great thing indeed, almost the car a stock one could have been.
