My Mum's Mk1 was the same colour, Canary yellow,
I was taken to school in it for years.

I really love Mk1's they look amazing, the mad thing is at the time they were everywhere so they everyone just thought 'meh'.

I'll just leave this here.

You don't see them in that condition very often,
although tbh I don't like Cortina's beyond mk3's, Mk1 & 2's is where it's at.

Mad to think a car that big only has 61bhp,
it's almost unbelievable that they were designed to be family cars
and carry 2 adults a couple of kids and a boot full of stuff.

They're not all that big though mate. A mk2 clio for example is taller than my Orion (a 1990's family car!) and only about 6 inches shorter.

Mad to think 5 of us used to go on holiday in my dads orion back in the day! It's tiny inside compared to newer cars.

I have memories of my Mum's Mk1 Fiesta being roomy,
then I remember I was a child so I didn't take up much space.

Although I had a Mk3 Escort as a stop gap while in between Golfs,
with the back seats down I got two adult German Shepherds in the back with room to spare.

Yes I wish i hadn't sold it tbh but thats akways the way! had 3 large folders worth in excess of 20k spend and won awards in the past. I was looking not long ago for either Escort or Fiest RS again as i project with my brother, non seem good enough and and most are selling for more than mine did 4 years ago.

Those of use that were teenagers in the 90s took these cars for granted because they were everywhere,
not to mention the fact that 99% of them were modified in the worst possible ways
and driven by people that would be described as brain dead chavs these days.

Fast forward 20 years and they're now considered classics,
probably because it's hard to find 90's Fords that haven't been ruined by clueless morons
that back in the day were trying to pull jailbait at the bus stop by doing handbrake turns.

I wonder what badly modified chav rockets will be considered classics in another 20 years?

Being only 28yrs old now i didn't have the joys of owning one from new either! but was a treat finding examples that had been well modified/documented and well looked after like the Fiesta i had, might just be me but 4-5 years ago it seemed so much easier to find them maybe it was the fact me and my freinds were in the "scene", between us we went through many a fast ford including XRI's

Love them still tho :)

I was looking about twelve years ago for a nice one, gave up after months & months of trying. I dread to think what condition most of them are like now! Mind you minters are silly money :(

i can remember be picked up once in a friends dads 1.3 cortina, we live on a housing estate with quite a steep hill on the way out. When he tried to go up the hill the car would go so we had to get out walk to the top then get back in the car.

  FN2 Type R +MK6 Golf
Daniel that escort is gorgeous, you sometimes see untidy ones on ebay with the cossie lump and locked diff for 15-20k but that one would be a lot more im guessing.

  Cup In bits
That Matt black Capri is hard as nails and I'd like to see the aftermath when that mk2 came back down the ground.

Great update there Kev!! Some of those Fords are err, questionable though :quiet:

Me, RS200, still pure porno :hail:

  An orange one
I call photoshop on that mk2 picture, you can see where they have filled in the trees under the front of the car in the middle

I swear that red Mk2 Escort is (sort of) round my way. I've seen a dude with a complete minter like that giving it some sideways action along the road lol!
It's such a nice car:approve:

Had some time to kill so went and had a look at a mk1 focus rs... They look so much better in the flesh. They also had an old escort with some rally spec lamps that also looked amazing... 25k for that though
