the gear ratio at a 182

does any of u know whats the gear ratio in the 182?what are the easiest and the wisest mods to be made on a 182? could u easily bring the 182 to 200 hp?

I have no idea about the gear ratios, I think they were posted a while ago. Anyway, I have a couple of emails off Induction kit specialists who claim that up to 14bhp is possible with a BMC CDA and the right hosing, or a Pipercross viper and remap. So youre looking at around 193 - 195bhp from that. Although they are only wild estimates I dont think it would take much more to knock on the 200bhp door; a job Im looking forward to taking part in :)

Get my 182 as soon as the Tesco loan funds are transfered to my bank, which should be Wednesday or Thursday! Being delivered up to me from Leeds (Im in Cumbria) Cant wait.

Gear ratios for the 182:

1st - 3.46
2nd - 1.87
3rd - 1.24
4th - 0.97
5th - 0.80
Final - 4.19

1st - 5.3mph per 1000rpm
2nd - 8.8mph per 1000rpm
3rd - 12.4mph per 1000rpm
4th - 15.9mph per 1000rpm
5th - 20.6mph per 1000rpm

As for mods there aint much out there for the 182 yet...

172 mods should work for the 182.

Same engine realy so 200hp is possible probably easlier than a 172.

Cams, ported head, Unichip (or similar) and Cold air intake should get you some more power.

I know the cams on the 182 are different and I recon there probably less extreme (to help lower the point of max torque) so a change for stronger cams will gain more than a 172 would. Possibly 25hp with a unichip and cams and some intake work.

The 182 exhaust is less restrictive with a freeer flowing race Cat and noiser exhaust.
