Just started playing Half Life 2 again, and it is so addictive. Such a good game. I remember playing Half Life 1 years ago, which was just the same. HL2 is now 6 years old, and i still think it comes out top of many other games. The story line from 1 and 2 are just great, just want to make you play on and see what happens.

A 6 year old game, in high-res with full detail still looks very good. Would be very interested to play this game with the Cinematic mod, however i can't justify raping my rapidshare account with 50gbs worth of download at 1 time.

I would imagine Valve will realse Half Life 3 at somepoint - they would be stupid not too. However they do kind of class EP 1 and 2 as HL3.

It won over 40 GOTY awards for a reason, and thats because it is great.

Yup its Cinematic mod

FakeFactory's Cinematic Mod is a modification which adds high-resolution textures to nearly all of the characters and objects in the original Half-Life 2 series. The mod replaces the original music with orchestral scores and also modifies weapon strength to resemble realistic stopping power.

Bit more than a MOD in all fairness, its taken the whole game - and re-rendered it in more detail. I really have to try it at somepoint.

I'm a huge Half-Life fan, the only game to match its awesomeness is Fallout 3 IMHO.

I liked the original Half-Life from back in '98. But HL2 was so much better, imo.

I actually found it a little disturbing to play - the creepy music and conversely, total silence at times - made it highly atmospheric. I got the feeling that you were helping out in just a small part against a much bigger, much more powerful enemy.

Definitely a genre-defining game and deserved of all the accolades it was awarded.

Only a 10gb download not too bad. Just use the torrent link if you don't want to use rapid share. What I am doing as I never knew about the mod so downloading it now. Flying along at maximum speed of my connection via the torrent. So a little over 800kb/s. Just need to get crysis again now to test this new gaming rig out.

Just use Jdownloader and set it to start between 2am and 10am. You only get "charged" 10% of what you download.

I used to download every mod or new single player level anyone did regardless of how good or bad it was. still havn't played anything that comes close to either that makes me want to play a game again and again.

Kris, i hung up my Logitech G7 and Siberias for well over a year now. Things went tits up after Antony was cought hacking, twice. In a week. We got him a new ID, gave him a new accent (Irish to Dutch) and we were cought again (Forgot to give him a new ip...).

Havn't looked back at it since. Is it even still worth playing competively?!

Big fan of the HL series. Can't wait for Episode 3. I was a big 1.6 player, playing for over 7 years. HL2 is still one of the greatest games ever made.
