The little things you do to your Clios

  Ziel Nurburgring

What have you done to you clios to make them more personal? I dont mean huge bodykits or alloys, just the little things like new gear knobs etc. With the newer 172/182s etc, what are your plans as your not going to want to mash up the inside/outside of your new car to much?

i got a plate done...not private , just wish a good graphic on the side and a little caption on the bottom, not to mention the obligatory clio tax disc holder

ive not done any modding, but i do things to my Clio when driving. For instance, I never drive off until the oil ok light has gone off and the mileage popped up. I never use 2nd gear from cold (ok for me, as i live at the top a hill so can coast in third nice and easy). When using 5th for the first time in the morning, I go 4th - neutral - release clutch - press clutch - engage 5th, makes the change smoother. Erm, what else do I do - oh, always let the engine idle for 30secs after a long hard/fast run, never keep my foot on the brakes at rest after a hard braking (to prevent warping), change the oil/filter every 6k, keep below 3k when cold. And give it a great big kiss at bedtime. Normal stuff, really.

Ive just my 172 back from the bodyshop and you can bet that their checklist didnt include any of that. I bet it was more like "Right, last one back gets the bacon sarnies in" and my poor little beauty was raped across town!

oh God, the rumours are true - Im losing the plot.

But chaps, I honestly do all that stuff. Very careful with the engine/gearbox when cold by keeping the revs down, waiting for the oil ok light to go out, take care not to warp the disc after some hard braking, 4th - neutral - 5th, kiss at bedtime etc. I would tell you what the Puppy gets for its Birthday, but I fear youd think Im a bit weirdo-alert material.

Everything I want to do/have done to mine is to make it either look better than when it left the factory.. or accelerate faster/handle better.

Hence

Eibach 10mm-15mm springs
Powerflow Custom Cat-back
Silver bulbs

To come

De-Cat or Sports Cat
Possibly carbon bonnet (unsure about this one just now)
16" or 17" alloys (got to be lighter than standard jobs)

when i had my Golfs, I used to flip the computer off the time setting ( i hate knowing what the time is - makes me realise how little of it is left) and onto the oil temp setting. I do admit to having an oil obesssiom. I used to watch the oil temp like a hawk in the Golf (look, its up two degrees Id glow to myself...as I have no friends), and the oil pressure gauge in the Alfa like a man awaiting an expensive oil-deprevation related disaster. Even now, I check the Clios oil level every two weeks, and yearn for an oil related gauge of some sort. Pls dont think bad of me. I dont smoke or drink or anything like that.

-60 springs, 17s, k-tec zorst, silver bulbs, modded boot badge, kenwood/infinity/jbl ice... oh, and cliosport taxdisc holder.

To come very shortly... new splitter, new brakes (and colour coded calipers), colour-coding, get the ICE working properly, custom induction kit, window tints and if i find one at the right price, a 172 interior.

p.s. Im the same after hard-braking - never keep my foot on the brakes in case they warp with the combinaton of heat and pressure held in one place!

Are you a regular at church too;)?

In all seriousness though, where are there hills in maidenhead (As im sure you said you lived there, or maybe were just visiting?

  VW Potato

my parents live in Maidenhead, i live at the top of a hill in Windlesham. So, I pull out in first so the cars rolling nicely downhill, gently slip into 3rd as the pace/momentum gathers, then gently press the accelerator so we slip seamlessly into a pace thats right for third gear. I do this BTW because 2nd gear is very stiff to engage when stone cold, and I dont like forcing things. A trick ive used with almost all my cars. I know, I know... ;)

alloys, little decals, the all importants cliosport sticker, very unique colour coding, de-cat, exhaust, i/k

Comming soon, tints, lowering 60mm, bucket seats, harnesses, stripped out rear end, and ICE

  Suzuki SV1000S

Quickshift Taipan 2 IK, Full Scorpion System, Remapped ECU, 17" Hyjoin Dynamics, Lexus Lights, Front Splitters, Mk2 Rub Strips, 45mm Apex Springs, Alpine and Infinity Install.

To come:

Flip Tints - Silver to Black, Coilovers, Carbon Bonnet, K&N (for weekends), Some kind of rear diffuser but not sure yet - need ideas actually

Think thats it!

Oh maybe an upgraded gfriend for my passenger seat;)

  Ziel Nurburgring

Its really difficult to find little things to do to the inside/outside that arent major changes, like alloys/bodykit. Ive changed the headunit, added a Mac audio powered sub and put a nice fire extinguisher in the boot. Externally (Dont rip me for this)) i bought a CUP badges of ebay and used the numbers on the rear. So it now reads Clio 172 and looks tha part!

Ive ditched the aftermarket exhaust, fitted a standard stereo, ripped out the CD changer and hidden the aftermarket speakers. Ive also had Renault dealer plates made up, fitted the dealer sticker and even the Renault dealers tax holder. I also found some original Renault carpet mats!

No - Im not joking! Its the reverse of modifying!

  None

Started to mod my interior to make the driving experience nice lol. Re-sprayed the clock to silver, fiited a blue led to it to make it nicer, metal monkey heater plate, re-sprayed the heater knobs silver, white led in back of heater plate, 10cm sony explods in the dash, cd player - not too much at the mo as the rest of the car is completly standard and short of money at the mo :(
