The Modding Bug...

  Iceberg 172
Hi guys,

I got my Iceberg thinking "I'll stick the coilies and turini's from my cup on it and leave it at that".

Well a week or 2 has passed and I'm now going to put my Stealth exhaust on and I'm looking at the K Tec website (which is just dangerous!) more and more!

I now have a list of mods I'm wanting to do in the near future!

I am impressed with the value for money though!

For example, mods that will probably get done on pay day are...

CF Splitter
Bolt in Top mounts
Silvervisions
Uprated Engine Mounts

That comes to under £400 which I think is a lot for the money.

I also went in a 172 which is std apart from a Group N Remap and the power delivery is definately improved as well as the raised limiter being a lot less intrusive.

So the next hit will be...

Matched inlets
Group N Remap
KTR Fast Road Brake setup (front for now)

That's £540 ish. Again, not bad imo.

I've never really had much of a plan of attack with a car... I've normally brought a car with a few bits done and just improved on it or got a car and ordered a load of stuff, fitted them then get bored and sell it! So actually planning ahead and doing mods in stages seems like a great idea in my head and doesn't mean a massive wedge of cash in one hit.

I just wondered how "the Modding Bug" has affected you and when do you see it as your car is complete?

Also do you think the Clio 1*2 is a cheap car to mod? I'm quite suprised really.

:) Well I guess that keeps the interest in the car!

Sounds gay but I really am sooo happy with the little 172! I wish I had of got one years ago... would of saved me £££££'s buying / selling other cars to finally get something i'm completely happy with!

Well mine is finished now to a certain extent (comfy for everyday usage)

I now have big plans for the future, and the car will more then likely change completely, got a nice pile of goodies already waiting to go on

My wife always moans as she said to me "you said once you got the Trophy you wouldn't want to change anything" - women.

Lol... Jamie, sames as my GF / Parents! TBF I did say "I'll put the wheels and suspension on then leave it alone" but I just can't help it!

Mind you, they still think my Momo wheel was a bargain off ebay that cost £50... I had to hide the K Tec invoice for nearly £200! lol.

my parents use to moan at me, the girlfriend never really has, i did say i would stop when i got the 172 and i did, found it wasn't the car i wanted after a valver, so made the choice to sell, nothing else was about that i wanted for the money so decided to keep the 172 and go crazy on it...

..now i work where i do my parents have totally given up trying to tell me...lol

Surely the mods are more value for money on say VXR's etc. Remapping a turbo with other simple mods gives a good amount of power

Personally i hate the modding bug, most mods always go wrong in my case and you end up just going non stop. What a pain

knows it, my car always has something else to do to it, and has done for the last 3 years, seems to suck up most of my wages too :(

Modding is addictive. I want more mods for mine but I need to spend cash on consumables for it instead :(
