Mod nats panic.. Pic heavy!
Okay, so I've been a little quiet for a while because I've just moved out and started a new career as an apprentice painter!
The car had been put to the back of my mind until I realised modified nationals was slowly creeping closer, this has always and always will be my favourite car show and I really wanted the clio to make it there so, this is how I did it, a few updates, a few teary eyed moments and it still has such a Long way to go yet and I'm sure many changes will happen but I was rushing and it did get there eventually!
I bought all my bumpers from a member on here and I couldn't afford to get them painted until I started my new job, so I ran around with them blue for a while, I think my new landlord was a little shocked when I turned up in the quiet, pretty posh village that I had moved to in this heap...
So after a few days of settling in, I started pulling the poor thing apart.
Oh, then I sold these.. Which were the wheels I had been trying on and faffing about with, turns out I couldn't be bothered to polish them up from bare metal so I just sold them, and made a profit, All for a good cause.... My new wheels!
Which arrived shortly after my birthday... (20 days til modnats).
So I ordered new tyres, got them fitted and stored them... In my new living room!
Whilst this was all happening, I was busy at work, learning. Oh and doing my own stuff!
I learnt damn fast and I smoothed, repaired, prepped, primed and painted my bumpers and wings, painted my side skirts, side strips, bullets, door handles and interior bits too.
I built it all back up the night before the show and I still didn't have my side skirts on, but the rest was on including some xenons and a few other touches, a damn good clean, a damn good hoover and I was starting to get a bit happier with it although it was miles off how I wanted it to sit!
So the next day after work, I set off.. Half way my lambda sensor sheared itself off the weld and I made some new friends...
Tim the AA man.. And jack; His trusty friend.
Finally after some bodging and fixing i got there- late. Too late, so I had to camp outside the main gates. What a nightmare, I got into the top 50 surprisingly and everyone seemed to like it more than in photos but I still wasn't happy with it and now have a lot left to do, I was just proud that it made it there and that hard work and plenty of stress got me there eventually!
More updates soon..
Next plans are to smooth the boot handle and clio badge off, lower it, new suspension, figure out how to fit my damn side skirts, paint all grey bits gloss black and.. Obviously... Respray it!
thanks for reading!
