I really don't see what Virgin are up to tbh . Why 50 meg ? Unless it's just some marketing ploy that they have the fastest speeds . It will only mean people will hit their download limits even faster so increasing how many people are affected by the traffic management i.e. dropping their speed back down to around 1 meg .

I'm constantly being dropped down to 1mb and i only download the odd film For 10 hours a day they drop their speed

What do the updates to the traffic management policy mean?
To make sure all customers get the most from their connection, we automatically reduce the speed of the heaviest users at peak evening times – between 4pm and 9pm. In extreme cases, we’ll now also reduce the speed between 10am and 3pm – something that’ll have an impact on just 1% of our customers.

If we are going to have these super fast download speeds , then we really do need to have true " unlimited " downloads , or what's the point ?

Yea but if you read in the terms and condictions it says quiet clearly "upto 50mb download is available out of peak service" upto... so you might get 1mb as 1mb is upto 50mb.... pointless if ya ask me, stay on the ten or 20 for a while why they sort out the usual network b****cks

it wont work as it should for at least 6 months, nothing from them ever does, we have been with em for about 12 years now and every new thing they bring out doesnt work properly for a few months, they dont seem to test anything

My VM 20mb connection has been crap for the past month, my speeds are hugely capped despite not downloading often.

Its pointless imo, if they do what Sky did with there Top Pack then i would consider it ! Ie no Caps or Fair usage Policy !!!

Modem you using ? if its a Moterola Surfbord call them up and demand a new one as its not able to use 20mb

No I'm using a 20mb compatible modem as it's been perfect until recently. I phoned to cancel today and they asked me to give it a week and see if my connection improves, I arrive home tonight and it's at full speed constantly again! I reckon they have altered something on my account.

It is highly unlikely it will be offered with the VIP package as I believe it is going to be branded as XXL Broadband.

The old line of "give me it or im off to sky" wont work as you cannot get up to 20mb with them, nevbermind 50
