Though I may wait until after CES before pulling the trigger to see what new stuff comes up.
...and rumours that 980 Ti owners will get priority ordering on the initial 1080 Ti's... in which case I might sell my current GTX 1080 FE as well as the 980 Ti SC and get the 1080 Ti :tonguewink:1080Ti due in Feb.
1080Ti due in Feb.
I'd have thought at pretty much the same time, no? Same as the 1080, I'd have thought they'll be given some pre release boards to base their designs on.Do we expect Kaby Lake news at CES? Also, the 1080Ti released early next year will be the reference item won't it? When can we expect the other guys (EVGA, MSN and the likes) to release their versions?

I've ordered my case and cooling setup for the CPU. Cooler was:
Corsair CW-9060025-WW Hydro Series H100i V2 240 mm Extreme Performance All-In-One Liquid CPU Cooler - Black
and case:
Corsair CC-9011083-WW Carbide Series SPEC-ALPHA Windowed Mid-Tower ATX Gaming Computer Case - White/Red
Once this stuff arrives it'll be power supply then some more cooling fans. Then it'll be wait and see what comes at CES before I can select motherboard, GPU, CPU and RAM.
Will drop in any existing Z170 board mate, providing it's on the right firmwareExcellent. I'll hold off buying the big ticket items (CPU, GPU and motherboard at the mo then).
Will Kaby Lake see the need for new motherboards or will existing ones still work with the new CPUs?
I have no issue with 2nd hand components IF buying from someone I know / trust Otherwise I just prefer to spend the extra and buy new. What's people's opinions on buy 2nd hand components? Don't wanna fork out full whack for a Sky lake i7 when Kaby Lake is on the horizon.
I couldn't bring myself to run Intel HD Graphics :tonguewink: Mind you, I don't have that option with my CPU.I'm gonna run of the Intel graphics from the MB until 1080Ti is freely available also.
The fact you even own an iMac is the issueWe are up and running at last. So I managed to get the PC booted with windows using the Windows 10 USB flash from Maplins. So obviously my iMac and it's ability to make a boot able Windows drive was the source of my issue.
Big relief tbh.
One of my case fans has a nice chirp sound to it and Amazon want me to send the whole case back instead of sending me a new fan or send me a replacement case and I would swap the fans and send that case back with the faulty fan.
The Corsair fans that come in that case are cheap and nasty. I replaced them all with Noctua fans and it's very quiet. Lovely noise of wind rather than high pitched fan noise when they get going too.
I've ordered replacement fans. Went with Corsair performance once that get good reviews. I've went for 3 x 120mm fans that are going to replace the 2 x 140mm front fans that came with the case. Customisable lighting also if thats your thing.
After some deliberation we decided to go for the Acer Predator XB27HU. Its not 4k but apparently 2560 x 1440 is the sweet spot for 27" monitors and a nice 144Hz refresh rate should keep things snappy. Should be here by Tuesday.
so my new monitor arrived today. Screen is lovely but for 1 dead pixel right in the middle of the screen. trying to get an exchange with Amazon right now and they are making it difficult.
