Question for CS, the ultimate arbiters of taste....

I still have 'P25 CUP' on retention from when I had my old RS250.

Given the lack of connection between Ford and anything 'Cup', is it just a bit tragic to consider putting this on the Focus?

Okay, so the car survived CSF, but I'm not so sure about the tyres....

Fronts appear to now be on 3mm (down from 5mm) and rears on 4mm (down from 5mm) but the wear on the front is more pronounced on the outside edge of each 'band' (?) so the effective treat might be a little less.

Are these good for a few months still or are they needing to be replaced immediately?

(interestingly they had hardly any pick-up from the track, unlike my PS5s last year)

I'd say there's still life in them yet, I'm no tire expert mind!

It went well on the track aswel, you wasn't hanging around.

Nah glue it back down

I'd only replace it if the cords were exposed or if it was causing massive vibration issues. It's only an outer tread block. I'm guessing that's on the front left wheel?🤣
Yup!

RHS is much better off ; you can make out the 'Outside' wording on RHS but it's half worn on the LHS.

Felt absolutely fine on the way home with no vibration or anything.

An interesting comparison then to mine after ~125 miles (I started on pretty much bang on 4.5mm all round):

Drove home feeling like normal other than a bit more road noise but I'm booked in for Powerflex differential bushes, rear discs and rear pads Thursday. I'm sure new tyres won't be far behind...

Rubber cement and sandpaper has certainly made it look prettier but I'm worried it's more of a cosmetic repair than anything else. Might be time to start shopping for new tyres.....

Currently looking at:
PS4Ss - Seem like the standard do-everything tyre but perhaps getting a little old now?
SC7s - Newer tyre but very similar performance to the PS4Ss
PZ5s - Very new and seemingly the best performing tyre around, but terrible availability

Any strong opinions on the forum or, for someone ham-fisted like me, are they all much of a muchness?

And as a PS, a lovely shot from CSF from the TR photos:

Bit gutted I didn't get snapped coming over the crest of the hill as that's always a great shot.

There are PS S 5 now which replace the PS4S (dunno why they messed around with the naming of them 😖) to also consider.

Don't think it's available in my size yet frustratingly.
Cant go wrong with michelins imo.
That's the way I'm leaning at the minute. Might be naive but I'd like to get 2yrs out of them (probably 8,000 miles total and 2 x CSF afternoon sessions) and they seem to review quite well.

I'd be perfectly happy to drive those tyres until end of summer, then replace with any of the options you mentioned.

From the fairly extensive reading I've done for my M2 the SC7 is marginally better overall but wears a bit quicker than the PS4S, but I'd doubt you'd notice the difference in day to day driving.

Car looked epic in the metal, stunning colour!

Whichever option is the best deal tbh. People talk about tyres like they’re about to go out and qualify for Monaco and adjust the psi on one corner by 0.5 to help turn in.

The reality is, 99.9% of us couldn’t say which is better if we back to back tested them. What we end up doing is comparing a worn out tyre with a brand new one and noticing the difference, forgetting the old ones were past there best.

Those are the overall results of the evo tyre test. I’m calling anyone that says that can definitively tell the difference between the top 6, a total liar. You aren’t Schumacher. You are, full of shite 😂

All of the decent tyres will be more than good enough.

All I can say is the Conti sport contacts I had once wore quicker than my patience with the BMW.

That's what I was hoping someone would say. I always get that FOMO by not making the 'best' choice, but if it's all super marginal, that's great.
