The simply story of a Clio 2 RS ph1 living in the South of France :-)

  CLIO 2 RS trackcar
MY CLIO 2 RS Mk1 in MOD CLIO WILLIAMS ! (colors at least ^^)

Now that I have finished preparing my Clio 2 RS Mk1 I decided to do sometimes tracks and not to damage the usual rims OZ 15'' Ultraleggera I searched used on the websites of French private sales

And I found these OZ 15'' too but model SuperTurismo of the year 2005 and for 100€ only the 4 !

It are a bit damaged at the edges (the previous owner did not much care of these nice rims, it should not be an enthusiast...)

And even if they serve me especially for tracks, I decided to renovate a bit and paint in Gold for with the color blue of my CiLio do a little salute to its "ancestor" Williams ^ ^

So now the PICS :)

Towards the balance! Weight with the OZ Ultraleggrra OZ 15 '-> 980kg (2160 lb for you) / Weight with the OZ Superturismo 15'' (2005) -> 990kg (2182 lb)
Normal, one Superturismo 15'' rim is 2.5 kg (5.5 lb) more than one Ultraleggera rim

Today I tested the tires Continental Premium Contact2 195/50R15 of my Clio 2 RS Mk1 (800 km about for these tires) in the rain ...

Conclusion : Good tires but not in the level of my former Michelin especially in the rain thus !

Sure, weight of my 15'' OZ Ultraleggera (alone without tires) 4.9 kg (10.8 lb for you), few of 15'' wheels are lighter (I know just one at 4.5kg)

My last "little" 0-100 kmh (about 0-62 mph) after I removed the speedometer to align on the real speed with my race GPS PerformanceBox.
Now the speed marked by the speedometer is more accurate and real
Now 100 km/h on the speedomter = Real 100 kmh ^^ :)

This is not so gadget with PV we have for 1 kmh above the legal speed limit in France :-/ Grrrrr...

OMG!!!

Hello everyone from the south-east of France after more than 8 and a half years since my last message dates from March 2014! ^^
I admit that I had forgotten this forum and my account that I found thanks to a chance search last night on Google. :p

But I'm posting again because since March 2014 I have kept my CLIO 2 RS mk1 which has become a 100% trackcar CLIO 2 RS MINICUP.

I see that I posted my last message in March 2014, the following month in April 2014 I tasted for the first time with it at trackdays and I caught the virus and have not stopped since.
Since then I have driven and I drive almost every month with it on circuits in the south-east of France and northern Spain, the Clio has evolved and been modified especially for that.

The heavy optimizations and modifications started in June 2014 to really accelerate in 100% trackcar mode at the end of 2017 when I decided to buy a trailer to dedicate the Clio entirely to this pleasure.

And finally since 2020, I have made it a CLIO 2 RS MINICUP trackcar!

Apart from its engine which has remained original and better in its "own juice", more than 22 years, soon 178,000 km including tracks almost every month for more than 8 and a half years, indestructible and strong 4 cylinders 2.0L 16v F4R730, the rest has not nothing resembling the car of 2014 and has been modified and optimized 100% for the tracks.

I have extremely lightened it, extreme emptying of the interior, the engine, fiber body parts, doors, rear tailgate, etc. (it's still in progress...) to play as much as possible on "Light is Right" and agility without touching the engine.
Above all, its chassis has been modified and copied from that of the Renault Sport/Dieppe factory race tracks competition of the 2000s, "Clio 2 CUP x65".

It just lacks the SADEV sequential gearbox, but I equipped its JC5 with a short torque 14x63 and a powerful Torsen Mfactory (maximum transfer 80%).

Of course I pushed the copy to the geometry and the Yokohama Advan A005 slick tires of the Clio 2 Cup X65

In October 2022 my Clio has nothing to do with the one it was in my previous message here in March 2014! :p ^^

To continue here, you can see here a short video I made recently on its exterior visual evolution between 2010 and today in 2022.
A visual evolution which therefore does not show the most important track modifications and optimizations, the most important cannot be seen ^^ ->

Take care of youl and see you soon here or on my Youtube channel which has evolved since March 2014 -> https://www.youtube.com/@clio2rsminicup
Or my recent Instagram account -> https://www.instagram.com/clio2rsminicup/

And this video summarizing the developments in broad outline between November 2010 and January 2021.
Since January 2021 it has continued to evolve especially in the "extreme Light is right" side for performance gains without touching and modifying the engine as always (which I don't want to do by principle of keeping its heart, its engine therefore) ->
